What I think you need to do is paint a "normal" situation and turn that into a romantic scene. Paint just a simple couple eating a meal, or cuddling with each other. But pour your heart into the painting and make it special. Sometimes the most romantic moments are the most impromptu times.

ideas for John:
1)husband holding his pregnant wife in arms, or kissing her belly
2)people embracing in a kiss.
3)first date scene--LOL--might not be too romantic
4)(anniversary)dinner scene--roses, candles, nice restaurant
5)couple holding hands walking down the beach
6)how about a girl saying "yes" to a proposal--embraced in a hug(maybe the only way you can tell he proposed is: the ring on her left hand--make sure you make that hand shows in the picture--and his hand can be holding the ring box) & a tear in her eye/or his/or both.
use "romantic colors" like deep reds/maroons/deep blues, etc.--well you'd know better than me, after all you're the painter. What medium do you use? Acrylics? Any tips for me, i'm taking a painting class in January.
good luck!!!

The last time a piece of art moved me to tears, it was a metal sculpture called "Aphrodite's Gift", and it depicted the moment in the legend of Pygmalion when the scultpor, having fallen in love with his own statue, has lain down his tools at the foot of the statue (which had yet to be severed from its source block of stone) and buried his head on his arms in an attitude of despair...while, above him, the newly live "statue" is reaching down a hand to touch his shoulder, with a tender look upon her face. Wow. Just remembering stops me in my tracks. And the image was of a modern sculptor, right down to the belt loops on his blue jeans and the Leatherman multi-tool on his belt.
My advice? You want inspiration for paintings, tuck your nose into some mythology or legends, you choose the culture. There is a reason that so much classic or famous or moving art re-tells such familiar tales. Mythology, folktales, Shakespeare, Chaucer....

To break out of your creativity block, try working in something more abstract by following the ideas on this article How To Make an Abstract Painting. The one showed is romantic/sensual and you could do something similar. I get tons of compliments on mine!

as for my opinion, i think a scene of an elderly couple would do. something like in the titanic scene where an old man and an old woman were trying to hug each other in a bed while the ship is sinking or an old couple holding each other's hands while walking. i think that'll be amazing. :D

I believe we have an aspiring Vettriano. seriously mass produce this stuff thats how you'll make the bucks. Its not "scene" for the art world but I bet a lot of people would buy that in a heartbeat.

An up-close of a couple holding hands, just the hands. Or a strong male hand with a tiny baby one.

oh my god.... I started to cry about the painting you have already done...... that doesn't sound romantic but more heartbreaking,......
ummm.... a picture of a couple or even just a female *WITH A WEDDING RING ON* holding an EPT plastic test kit with a + sign on it..... with a BIG smile on her .... no their faces.... or them embracing with one holding the test with smiels and tears.....
Edit: I would love to see your other picture... can you email it to me???? brwneyes30_04@yahoo.com
