well i've been taking pictures all my life, and i actually love my work, but of course i would. i'm no professional or anything, photography is just my passion. i have been reading around and seeing that there are certain tricks and ways of shooting to produce awesome pictures...can anyone please give me a website that shows tips, or could someone give me some tips?

There are no "tricks" to taking good photographs. There are techniques that you can learn by taking a few classes in photography.
To take good photographs requires a knowledge of composition, light, aperture (aka f-stop), shutter speed, ISO and by seeing instead of looking. Learning to see photographically takes practice.
"Looking and seeing are not the same; seeing involves perception, and this brings into play our entire system of human values. Because people's values differ, no two individuals see exactly the same". From 'Object & Image: An Introduction To Photography, Third Edition' by George M. Craven, Chapter 1, p 9.
Read photography magazines. Read biographies of famous photographers. Really read and study the Owner's Manual for your camera.

In-built talent is a good start.
There are millions upon millions of camera-owners out there, with state of the art equipment, and a lot less, that on fully-auto-everything can take wonderfully sharp and colorful images - which they all like immensely as individuals. We all do. It's human nature to do so.
Now it depends upon what YOU see as an awesome photograph, as there are many styles, and as many tastes among potential viewers. You will never please all the people all the time.
Very few 'tricks' save for digital post-processing to enhance and the experience that comes with time-served when shooting in the first place.
I cannot advise any further as I don't know what your tastes are, what you consider to be 'awesome', what you have already produced that you love. All too vague.
To be blunt - if you have an eye for it, you will know instinctively how you can make a picture 'awesome' in other people's eyes.
There are so many 'tips' it would require a book. We don't have the space here.

To make the light in your picture softer try putting some folded aluminum foil in front of the flash in such a way that it deflects the flash in a direction other than the object or person you are photographing. It looks exactly like a professional studio photograph. Thats what they are basically doing with those umbrellas that they flash light into. Notice that they don't ever flash their object or person? Thats how.
