Philosophy - February 2007

I'm doing my Bachelor's Essay on Rand, and I want to get a general idea of what people think of her...specifically if you've not read much by Rand, since she tends to have such a negative image. ANY thoughts in the affirmative or negative regarding her philosophy/fiction is appreciated.

Religions teach us the creation as the origin of the human beings and science has been trying to prove as the result of the evlolution through the findings of various human like skeletons in different palces, belonging to different ages. Will the science succeed to prove the evolution theory? Why not we conclude that the skeletons which claimed to be close to the human beings and connecting chain between human bings ad gorrila or varaguntan be of another spicies which is extict? There have been thousansd of speiecs which have been extict. Why not we concludse with these findings that there would have been another spicies between human being and monkey family which has been lost? Why science should waste time and energy on this issue?

I am an Athiest. I fully believe Darwin's theory on Evolution as nothing else makes sense to me. Alot of Christians tell me that there are so many witnesses to the birth and death of Christ that there is enough evidence to prove he existed. However, is it not true that there is also written documents of the existance of UFOs? Why do we not accept these documents as fact considering millions of people believe documents of the same incredibility written 2000 years ago.

I hear and read all the ten and twenty question tests about how to know if you are and alcoholic or drug addict, but I only have one simple question.
Does ALCOHOL/gambling/obsessing/whatever etc. negatively effect your life in way, such as family, bill paying, health? And if it does, guess what? You are. But if can can gamble or shoe shop with no ill affects and have fun, then enjoy.
ONE QUESTION only, why make it so complicated?

I know that the ideal is to love and to be loved, but what happen when they love you more than you love them. Which one would you choose to be; the one that loves or the one that is love? In other words would you stay in a realationship where the other person loves you a lot but you can't love him/her the same way, is it fair for you and them?

I am pretty tired of people not thinking logically about things. I've come to find that the biggest reason for it is just ignorance. People just are informed and don't understand facts. Also, another large contributer to blocking logic seems to be bias. I don't understand how someone could fefuse to listen to someone elses arguments and refuse to accept that there could be any other answer to something than ther own. What are some things that you think block the use of logic.

P.S.
My reason for making this is because I have found that people on here use less and less logic everyday.

It's 2nd semester again and it's winter. This is happening to me again. Medication? Nah, it doesn't work and it would take a month for me to actually get an appointment with a psychiatrist. I need something quick.

I've lost my motivation, drive, I feel like I'm floating around. I forget things easily and would rather stay home than come to college. I'm really out of it. I'm afraid that I'm going to fail. I feel a little loney also. I still enjoy socializing, but I am incredibly bored. I'm no longer my perky self. I need to get myself back together. Help!!!!!!!
