no, what exists in my mind is only a perception of who you are... but you have an existence other than what's in my mind...

No. I can see you. I can touch you. I can hear you. I can smell you. You exist. How could say that you exist only in my mind. Does the dog that bites you on your leg causing grevious injury exist only in your mind? Or will you even say that the injury also exists only in your mind? Or the doctor that bandages the wound exists only in your mind. Everything exists; is real; and is true.

The Stone Mind
Hogen, a Chinese Zen teacher, lived alone in a small temple in the country. One day- four travelling monks appeared and asked if they might make a fire in his yard to warm themselves.
While they were building the fire, Hogen heard them' argu¬ing about subjectivity and objectivity. He joined them and said: 'There is a big stone. Do you consider it to be inside or outside your mind?'
One of the monks replied: 'From the' Buddhist viewpoint everything is an objectification of mind, so I would say that the stone is inside my mind.'.
'Your head must feel very' heavy,' observed Hogen, 'if you are carrying around a stone like that in your mind'

I'm confused, I thought it was the other way around and I only existed in YOUR mind. Looks like one of us is crazy. I sure hope it isn't me.

My Descartesian answer is that because you have asked a question, I must assume that you think. Now because I think, therefore I am. Then because you think, therefore you are (to me) also. That is my proof that you exist to me, and to yourself. Hence you do not exist only in my mind.

at this current moment, no, you exist on my computer screen, but as soon as I move on to the next thing on my to do list, if I do remember you, you exist only in my mind...that is, unless I go back to this question...

I don't think so, because only I can exist there, you exist outside my thoughts, as should be. only room for one ,and that one is in the private space.

I hope you're not an automated programed question building machine. I can't prove now that you really exist, but that doesn't mean that I'm an atheist. I believe that you exist.

if you are referring to the self, yes..it acts on a mental level. but whatever we think we execute it through our body. the contact point with the world and mind is the body and it's senses.
this is as close i can get to answer your question. the mind and body are separate entities. however, they are connected and they cannot exist without the other. it's fascinating to study the relationship between the mind and body.
this should clear the cloud. the "i" in the mind expresses itself through the body that is in contact with the world. whatever "i" thinks, is manifested through actions and whatever body goes through directly influences the "self". they are interlinked.
