Language is a sum of definitions that we develop to communicate with. Our thinking and mentality is limited to the number of definitions we know. Our thinking controls our feelings. Our feelings control our faith and beliefs. Our beliefs control our choices and decisions. Our choices lead up to our destinies. Our destinies form our history, and the history of 'Man' is not something we should be proud of. Even after language has evolved and communication means improved, we are still surrounded with wars, injustice, corruption, etc...
So did our main tool of communication fail to do its job? Has language been nothing but the bottleneck of our human progression? Did its improvement reach a dead end?
I always think that there must be some superior way can communicate with. Completely flawless and pure. Expresses every idea and feeling we have. Have no chances of being misunderstood and every human being can learn to understand. Music and arts are good tries, but it’s not them.

Is being able to see all points of view, and therefore unable to become passionate about any point of view a good thing or a bad thing?

Except for the brother-sister connection of course.

Secondly, does age play any significant role in this?

I was thinking of HAL 9000 the other day as 'he' just had his fictional birthday so I re-read 2001 by Arther C. Clark. I had these thoughts:

Assumptions for the debate:

1.) There is no way to PROVE that the human mind is indeed conscious. Only to test if if appears that way.

2.) Human beings indeed have a soul or spirit.

3.) A computer like HAL 9000 could be built.

Since HAL would easily pass any consciousness test such as Alan Turing's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turing_test)

Please answer the following:

1.) Would a computer like HAL actually be conscious or just convincing enough (like humans) to seem that way?

2.) If HAL is not conscious, does that mean that humans might not be conscious but instead are (biological) machines so complex we fool ourselves and others into believing we are conscious (like HAL)?

3.) If HAL is conscious, does HAL have a soul?

4.) If HAL has a soul, where did it come from? God, his programmers, elsewhere?

The assumption of course is that we too can read the thoughts of other people.

Wonder whether we can really imagine this scenario quite properly!
