My philosophy class was talking about Hitler and whether it would be wrong to kill him or not. Everybody kept saying that it would be wrong to kill him because he hadn't done anything wrong yet (October 1918, blind Hitler in a hospital). A few others said it would be murder or that the war and the Holocaust were inevitable.

I raised my hand and I said I wouldn't hesitate to kill Hitler. The systematic genocide of over 6 million people, a war that killed another 50 million, and an ideology of hate and bigotry that pollutes the world to this day. If removing that costs one man's life, particularly the one responsible for it, then that's a price worth paying. This stupid girl tried saying it was the same thing as Hitler to kill millions of people. I argued her back saying that one life isn't the equivalent to 60 million and that she was writing off all those people by being willing to let Hitler walk. She didn't have an answer for that. Hitler was human filth that deserved to die.

Have you ever thought about the fact that you did not exist before you were conceived and then born into the world and that you have come into existence from mere nothingness?
Have you ever thought about how the flowers you see in your living room everyday come out of pitch black, muddy soil with fragrant smells and are as colourful as they are?
Have you ever thought about how mosquitoes, which irritatingly fly around you, move their wings so fast that we are unable to see them?
Have you ever thought about how the peels of fruits such as bananas, watermelons, melons and oranges serve as wrappings of high quality, and how the fruits are packed in these wrappings so that they maintain their taste and fragrance?
Have you ever thought about the possibility that while you are asleep a sudden earthquake could raze your home, your office, and your city to the ground and that in a few seconds you could lose everything of the world you possess?

Does the turn the other cheek philosophy only apply when it is you who are being abused? Or are we to turn the other cheek if we see others being abused? Are we to give the men who bring harm full reign of our earth without stopping them?

Even though I do believe taht everything happens for a reason, I do not believe that only one person is meant for you and only you. Does that make sense?

War, poverty, glabal warming. The world is ending and we know it. We lie to ourselves, but it is happening. Isn't our children's future world depressing?

I'm seeking people who know, something huge is going to happen. I want to know if anyone else feels like this. An unnameable sensation that leaves you feeling desperately restless and anxious. What's up with that? Or is it just that I'm not getting enough nooky....

If in a conversation a person accepts certain premises which lead to a conclusion beyond their willingness to admit its truth (and/or the internalization of that truth qua belief), then have they been disingenuous with regard to the premises, or do they maintain any shred of dignity without irrationality?

That is, in what cases MUST a person accept a fact as belief, and if there are none, what do you propose ordinarily brings a person from evidence to belief?

This was asked in the context to the day to day happiness versus the big dreams that we nurture in order to ruin this happiness; at times I myself wish to do great things but contrary to that sometimes little tasks of kindness, and good behaviour gives me happiness!!! I mean working hard, living peacefully and helping the needy and also enjoying but the bigger dreams that I have seen sometimes indicates that I might have to sacrifice all these in order to achieve this, So you all good people out there, Can You help this guy??(That's me!!)

The saying that when you are young, you need to be a socialist, otherwise you will be regarded as having no heart. But when you are older, if you are still a socialist, then you will be regarded as having no head.

Where are your values at this point in life ?
