Does the turn the other cheek philosophy only apply when it is you who are being abused? Or are we to turn the other cheek if we see others being abused? Are we to give the men who bring harm full reign of our earth without stopping them?

Hardly. This ideology is simply meant to promote peace instead of retaliating with anger everytime something upsets you. In actuality if you turned the other cheek, I can't imagine much good happening for you if someone truly has it in their mind to hurt you. But in less threatening situations, it simply means for one to be more accepting and forgiving to what is upsetting the other person, which is a faster way to a good outcome. Understanding does tend to have that affect, but it is not universal. Most situations that threaten a person outside of an arguement probably call for a more suitable reaction. All in all, the idea is that if everyone went about their lives with the idea of reacting to everything with a kind forgiving accepting attitude, that there'd be no negativity to begin with thus creating peace.

The abuser must be stopped and I have done just that a few times. Last one got 60 years behind bars. I do it all legally by finding out just what can be don first then go and do it. It also depends a little on what the abuse is. but most is not acceptable.

When abuse is involved the turn the other cheek philosophy can go to hell. Stop abusers in any way possible.

For those who are aware … truly aware …a purpose served outside ones self. A kind word can turn way much wrath. With the point to get us to think outside of rage. If that purpose is served to bring back reason then all benefit from such an act. We must build walls around those abused for their protection sometimes people are those caring walls of protection with the assault directed upon one whom can bear it.

No. Turn the other cheek means that we do not answer violence with violence. If we see man abusing another (or we are being abused ourselves) we cannot confront or condemn him with the same response. The solution is to answer with proper example. To spank a child for hitting his sister would be to tell him violence is wrong by punishing him with violence. Turn the other cheek means do not be taken into the violence for then you are a part of the problem. We should stop them, yes. But the method should not included abuse.

Of course not. The great weakness of christianity and social science, is that they assume that people are all pretty much alike; one standard deviation from the mean, or a type. The truth is that predators and parasites walk among us and must be opposed. Much of the violence in the world is directly caused by these people, or by keeping the rest of us in postures of defense.

Strength is given to men to protect that which is precious - the innocent and those who cannot protect themselves. However, man is so self-centered that he tends to stand up for himself more than he ought to and tends to ignore those assigned to his care more than he ought to. But evil men who seek to rule the earth must be stopped!!
