The saying that when you are young, you need to be a socialist, otherwise you will be regarded as having no heart. But when you are older, if you are still a socialist, then you will be regarded as having no head.

Where are your values at this point in life ?

I'm 22 so I'm very much at the young end of that scale- I'm still definitely a socialist. Interestingly my once liberal (erstwhile Hippy) dad (who worked for years in social services) now works in the private sector and ridiculous though this may seem- every year he writes a list of the people who sent him a Christmas card and if someone he sent a card, didn't send him one, he scratches them off the list for the following Christmas; because supposedly 'it costs a fortune', whatever happened to Christmas spirit?
I hope I don't head down that road! I'm going into teaching myself but I have high hopes of going into senior management by the time I'm 30 (and I've promised myself if I'm not there I'll move out of teaching and into something better paid)- so who knows where I'll be in 20 years- still a socialist? hmm..?

I'm still a socialist at 63. You might put this down to senility, but I still believe in human rights (how sick is that?)
OK. some people might think I have no head - but I believe in human dignity and the protection of human rights just as I did in the 60s. I haven't evolved - thank God (whoever He may be)!

Socialists when theyre older are the sort of people who know nothing about anything unless the Sun Newspaper tells em it, but try to act like they know everything about everything !!
