No, it's not an essential part of life, as many well-adjusted people, from long ago and now, have been/were single all their lives. But finding real love does, indeed, make life so much more enjoyable and fulfilling...at least personally.

I wouldn't call it essential. But it depends on the person. I think of "real love" being a sort of cliche type thing, but who knows it could be out there. I think people think about "real love" as something they want to try and reach in life because it's supposed to be the greatest thing. There are needs that every human has with no exceptions and love is one of them according to a good man by the name of Maslow. Without any love in life you can become lonely and depressed.

some people i'm sure can be happy without a lifelong love. i wouldn't reccomend being completely alone. i think everyone needs someone that they can confide in and dream with, friends can fit that bill.
i personally am in a happy reltionship, and i can't imagine not being with him. when i was younger, most of the depressed teenage years revolved around thinking that i would die without someone to call mine. My life is much harder now, but i never get tha tdepressed like i used to be. i know that i have someone who i can get through this stuff with.
i think oinly a select few are strong enough to go it alone, but it'll be so much easier if you are with your love.

Yes - love of some shape or description, but not always loving another person.
I have friends who feel completely fulfilled in their lives but have never had what I would call a real long-term stable relationship. They have real love for their children, for their horses or other animals and, in one instance sadly, for their work.

For some of us, yes; for others, no.
Some folks are just content to be loners and recluses.
Some will pursue "real love" and never find it because of flaws in their personalities.

No, just a good one.
I know of one person who has almost nobody, ever, and still drones on.
