War, poverty, glabal warming. The world is ending and we know it. We lie to ourselves, but it is happening. Isn't our children's future world depressing?

I agree with everything you've said except for the "glabal warming" crap (I assume you meant "global" warming?)

Global warming is just the new flavor of the week in scare tactics and the "woe is me!" mentality. Baaa baaa baaa, sheeple.

The world is going to "hell in a handbasket" though, but you can thank 1. Sin in the world and 2. Man's innately evil and selfish nature.

The Earth being ephemeral is the thing that makes it so beautiful. Everything comes to an end, whether it's our fault or not. But just by knowing that it will all end makes the Earth even more precious. Getting depressed won't help it last longer, concrete actions will. Doing something to help our planet might help you feel better. But if you think of all the injustices we have done to Earth, maybe we deserve extinction. After we're gone, the Earth will regenerate and become its old self again, but I doubt that the human race will be there to damage it again. This will happen, however in thousands of years, our grand grand children will not live to see the moment of natural destruction. I wouldn't worry about global warming if I were you; what we are experiencing is simply the passing of the earth through a belt of photons, and the warming will only advance up to 2012, after wards the climate will get back to normal. We are not all going to die.
And as for wars and poverty, these are 2 things that man can change by helping each other, standing up for peace and love between people. They are not irremediable.

take and oceanograhy class and you will learn that the world cools down and heats up on its own every hundred years or so. It will heat up regardless of what we do on earth, it will cool down regardless of what we do on earth. Only uneducated people wil belive what they hear on the news and read in the paper. The world is a beautiful thing, yes there is war, yes there is poverty, but the world was not meant to be perfect. What are you doing to make a difference in this world besides being negative and hopeless? if you dont like poverty them donate your time and money to change it. if you dont like pollution, get rid of your car and ride a bike. The world is what you make of it. you can make a difference or you can just be a body and have no significant effect whatsoever. The world will not end, it is a cycle and a test for everyone to make it a better place. If you go back and read about the history of the world, you will read about disease, war, plague, etc. Be positive and be thankful for the beautiful day that you have ahead of you. Smile and realize that you are apart of all the beauty in this world.

The future of any particular society swings in the balance between improving and declining at any given moment in time.
Our children will play the hand(s) they are dealt, (the same as all of the generations have done before them), and hopefully they will act more responsibly than we.

Rather than lamenting the plight of future generations, perhaps we should prepare to rejoice in their being given such compelling motivation to abandon the now prevalent concern only for the individual’s welfare, for the more noble concern for the welfare of all.

This is a wonderful opportunity for mental, emotional and spiritual growth for those who choose that path.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to reply to the question about the soul after death, so I posted it below. :-)

The soul will continue to do exactly as it has done from inception; evolve in harmony with an ever-changing universe; fascinated with experiencing the infinite diversity of creation, while at bliss with the knowledge of its oneness.

I think life is wonderful. The world is not ending there are not wars everywhere and even if global warming is happening it is not the end of the world.

No. All the things you speak of have been happening since day 1 of this earth. We are still here and making progress. Hang on to that. Learn from the past, live for today as fully as you can and hope for the future. We are survivors!!!!!!

You've just described the glass filled halfway with water - is it half empty or half full. Yeah there are problems but that doesn't mean there are no solutions. If you feel strongly about these issues then get yourself involved to change them. Its not going to change overnight but it takes just one person for change to occur. These problems are human made so the solutions can be too.
