Have you ever seen your dreams shatter before your eyes?
What if it was you with the hammer?

Would you stop yourself?
Could you stop yourself?

What if you took your time to shatter the glass?
Would it make a difference?

What would you do now?
What could you do now?

how can you truly know if someone exists with out any type of human measurement. you can actualy prove that they are thinking minds. you can only know that you are. "i think therefore i am". so is it possible that you are the only one who exists? and everything else is just some craxy illusion created either by you or a greater creator??

if you dont beleive this then how do you know that your beleif is right? and if you DONT know for sure then what is the point in life? why should we keep going on, the only thing that realy matters in "life" is the love for your friends and family and they might not even exist

"Man is nothing else than his plan; he exists only to the extent that he fulfills himself; he is, therefore, nothing else than the ensemble of his acts, nothing else than his life". - Sartre

If everything is indeed planned, why bother? Now, you ask, what makes me think everything is planned? well, i i happen to believe that everyone is the result of his genes and environment. Man has no control over either. Where is free will then?( soul?) Furthermore, can you really delude yourself with hedonism and pretend that this is the point of life, to live and experience it( from an invisible prison cell, i might add, as you will only experience what you "can"( genes, environment restrict you))
I dont know about you, but this makes me feel like a damn machine, or a robot.

Uncertainty is always surrounding us. We are scared of things like what will happen in the future, about our jobs, about making decisions, etc. Is learning to live in the present the solution to it? What are your thoughts?

A few nights ago, I had an enlightenment. While pondering why I was on this planet, I realized that I am but just part of something bigger. When people look for the meaning of life as individuals, they come to a dead end since no matter what you do with your life, you will eventually die; making everything you do seem futile. Thus, inorder to find meaning, we have to see ourselves as a part of a whole. If we make a change in society today, our actions will influence countless generations in the future, thus making us in a way immortal. As long as humanity exist, we as individuals will exist through our influence on furture generations.

What do you think? Does this make sense, or am I full of crap?

When I read objectivism or talk with objectivists, I find no holes whatsoever in the philosophy. But, I have yet to find a well-versed objectivist that isn't arrogant and shaming towards any view that isn't completely objectivist, online or in person. It's like conversing with a fundamentalist Christian, except that the objectivist uses flawless logic. Has this been anyone else's experience? Do I need to chat with more objectivists to sample a larger group of them?

I'm wondering if it may have been Freud, but I can't find much to support this aside from his "death instinct", which by the descriptions I've found doesn't seem to be the same.
