I wrote this when I was 14 or 15 (Use your imagination). I'm just curious to know what people think it means, or what it means to them. Please no rude or stupid comments, I'd rather you not waste my time.

Substituted by a rock
This flower is laid to rest
Slowly losing petals
Worn, torn, dry, and crumb
Trampled by a bear
This rock is chipping too

I am curious if people are optimistic or pessimistic (sometimes called realists) about the chances of our species to survive the next thousand years. (Technology is advancing in leaps and bounds... Genetic engineering (not yet but may be soon), Cloning, Artificial Intelligence (Cyborg technology), Bigger better smarter weapon of mass destruction. The world governments are still based on the ideas and wisdom of the past (Socialism, Capitalism, Communism, Fascism) Human population is growing at uncontrollable rates (Geometrically) which also adds more to the human potential (flip side of the coin) The world is getting smaller (Space is limitless- Human colonization) and cultures are currently fighting for survival to retain their identities. Not to mention globalization, Global warming, current trend of crop failures, and the destruction of the planet’s environment. (I predict an increase of pollution due to globalization). Is the human race going to evolve or go with as the dinosaur?

So if we screw up, if we committ suicide, if we must atone for some bad deeds, we have to do the whole trip over again...and heaven will have to wait until we measure up.

Is the world actually alive or is it just rock and the things that live upon it are what makes what it is. If this is the truth then if we damage the earth we are actually damaging our selfves and clearly we cant heal that fast.

It is my understanding that the 'Prophet Mohammed' is not dipicted in pictures to prevent idolitry.

If this is the case, then is the reaction to pictures dipicting the prophet not a kind of idolitry in itself?

Lets say the government takes a radical turn and everyone will now pay a 75% flat tax, and the proceeds will be used to feed, clothe, educate and medicate the world for the good of all mankind. Would you happy to go along with this? Would the concept of drastically reducing your standard of living for the benefit of people on other continents be too abstract to motivate you?

I posit that this is why there can be no such thing as a Utopian society, or a kinder, gentler society. (ala Bush I) Its just not possible for humans. What do you think?

or are we created?? are we made the way the way we are

i had a nasty thought the other night (yes, i know i should stop thinking)

what if we are 'created' to be the personality that we are, with governments tinkering with education and certain aspects of our lives its certainly possibly

u either follow or rebel against the model u are given at childhood

also if u create an equal number of people committed towards society as there are against then u would create a 'war' within the economy with the two opposing sides working against each other and neither achieving anything, which would keep the economy constantly ticking over with different sides at the 'forefront' at different times

so by being lazy and allowing people to be 'against society' (or to drop out) and saying, it doesnt matter - are we making life more stressful for ourselves and ultimately destroying our society in the long run, when we should be finding commmon ground and working together

Any discussion or action against the pharmaceutical companies for denial of access to life saving medications? Millions are dying in the name of profit. Look at the court records by PMA and drug companies. They have fought to limit licencing and generic sales. They are clearly making decisions to maximize profit that are causing the death and misery of millions. Imagine 200 MILLON dying because Roche has restricted production of Tamiflu for profits if H5N1 becomes infectious in humans, currently mortality rates are over 50%. Isn’t this genocide, genocide of the poor? I am sure twenty years from now these will be widely viewed as crimes against humanity. Roche shows how far they are willing to go. How many died in the Holocaust?

To the point that we have gotten? Is there really any way to reverse the effects of the path that this society has taken, and is there any reason why we have taken it so far as to make ourselves slaves to little green pieces of paper that are worthless? To the point of making this a society that we have nothing to do besides sit in our little boxes just to watch little boxes because not everyone is interested in going drinking, or shopping untill our heads fall off. And just where is conversation valuable in this society?
