Philosophy - July 2006

The more and more thought I put into these questions; the more and more I think that these are social constructions. Yes, morality by definition means conforming to the established principles of right and wrong. I am trying to figure out my own ideas of right and wrong or good and evil. What makes something right or wrong or good or evil. And yes I know that our actions are not purely good or purely evil that they are just actions and others view them as good or evil. But whats the ideal Good and whats the ideal evil or ideal right and so on...

Why are Hezbollah fighting the way they are?

Do terrorists want to draw attention to something?

They are losing more land to Israel now!

Kids are being killed on BOTH sides RIGHT NOW and it just doesn't make sense to me.

This is 2006 not 1916.

I'm a dreamer. I've been lucid dreaming on and off for couple years. I've been inconsistant with my dreaming states. I dream all the time, I just can't control it as I would like. I can get very close to controlling my dreams, but as soon as I get control I get scared and wake up. Any thoughts would be great. How can I consistantly lucid dream all the time? And have it be where I can control it without any doubts.

Apart from any religious believes, can anybody substantiate philosophically or scientifically that we have a free will?

In my eyes, every decision we make is affected by various outer factors, such as former experiences, ways of thinking, influences of friends, etc

Is it by any chance conceivable that we are although free to decide on our own?

I know we have feelings for people and people are capable of eliciting emotions in us but how does love come into all this?

I've had people confidently tell me that I can't have been it love with so and so because of such and such. Whereas they have experienced love and are therefore in a position to judge based on the words I have used to convey my feelings towards somebody. Are these people just full of you know what? Are you one of these people?

Someone wanted to know how to neuter their dog at home and another person told them to put a rubber band around the dog's testicles. I would like to report them both for cruelty to animals but yahoo doesn't work that way. I get sick thinking about some poor animal being treated this way. Reporting them for violation won't help the dog any, so, I guess I should just ignore it. Any advice?

Christ in the bible says it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven. Christ is saying that to e rich wil stop one from going to heaven. Christ told his followers to give away all their bellongingsif they wanted to follow him. And gluttony is one of the 7 deadly sins. So how can a person be rich and a good christain How can christain billionairs be good christians when xchrist himself condems being rich. Why to do many christains want to be rich when gulttony is a sin. How can a person be a good christain and be rich at the same time

Some christans claim that the 6th commandement does dont mean "thou shall not kill" but instead "thou shall not murder" this translation now appears in many christain bibles Murder means the unlawfull killing of someone. Now under Nazi Germanies laws it was lawful to kill jews gypsies slavs homosexuals and the menatally ill. So for those christians and Jews that claim that the 6th commandment should read "thou shall not murder" does this mean that the holocost was not in violation of Gods laws because it was lawfull under a countries laws . If they claim that it was in viloation of Gods laws how can they then claim that a country that has laws authorising capital punishment or the lawfull killing in war is like wise not disobeying Gods 6th commandment
