People in Victorian times were SO repressed they would COVER UP the legs of tables-- I **** you not --
I can't Help but think Victoria's Secret is exactly what was said above-- that putting barriers on sexual symbols, whether the female body or suggestive furniture, only makes the impulse and desire stronger.
So when a woman wears luxurious undergarments, which no one sees for all practical purposes in everyday life, she is holding One More thing, one more layer of the diaphonous before the attracted other. That's why all those uncomfortable-looking apparatus' are around. It's bondage on the part of the woman, but it's also a maze she puts before the home (if you can tolerate the metaphor). And the bra and panty line are supposed to be the modern stand-in to the old boustiers and ruffled complexities under the architectural dress.
They "push-up" the breast in the normatively Victorian way. They are supposed to do this 'comfortably' and make the women who wear them into super-model Angels, though their eyes say differently. Exploiting that whole madonna-whore complex. The fabric is solid, the g-strings scarcely promoted-- covering the skin IS, according to the repression formula.
Is it comfortable? It can't be. But the lack of comfort is the lauded sacrifice for women's power over men.

Victoria's secret is this: While most men aspire to get their women naked, they are really more turned on by partially naked. Victoria knows that matching bras and panties, fishnet stockings, a bustier, or some high heels are really much more exciting than finding white cotton granny panties; or sturdy, matronly, industrial strength bras underneath the clothes. Part of the allure is getting to the flesh in a pleasing, sensual manner. Just because it is "underware," doesn't mean it should be ugly.

"She's a man" is the commonly used joke.
I know the real secret.
She's anorexic.
She's thin enough, though, that it's really not much of a secret, is it?
