Why do people say do not be a follower but be a leader? If everyone is a leader than who is there to follow?

Justice seems to be one of those "universal" values that Appiah argues is shared across cultures, but it is also one that is thin - something we all agree is good until, perhaps, we se what it means in practice.

My question is Does our (and their - the "TALIBAN") commitment to justice provide a sufficient ground for "conversation" from which we might come to a better understanding of the taliban and ourselves? Remember, we execute criminals too.

1 [ Capital punishment should be abolished.] This is because 2 [it is just another way our country oppresses non-European, non-white males.] Another reasons is that 3 [ capital punishment is essentially unjust.
4 [If over 80% of death-row inmates are African-American males, then capital punishment is just another way of oppressing non-European, non-white males.] Since 5 [over 80% of death-row inmates are African-American males], it must be the case that 6 [ capital punishment is just another way this country oppresses non-European, non-white males.]
There is other evidence for our systematic oppression of non-European, non-white males as well: Since 7 [a disproportionate number of African-American males are below the poverty line,] and since 8 [ one out of every two African- American males will be victims of a violent crime before they are 21 years old.] and since 9 [ it is more likely that an African-American male in a big city will be shot than graduate from college

How much of our own happiness and the quality of our lives depends on our own actions, and how much is contributed by our environment and other things we can't effect? Is this too much of a burden for one person?

Many people neglect to consider mathematics and physics as branches of philosophy. Historically, there is no difference, whereas today there is a pretty deep gulf between the two.
Will philosophy ever catch up?

I hear voices sometimes and they are sometimes very clear. I know I'm not crazy.God himself,Creator of thoughts and voices,is possibly trying to talk with me? Not crazy;very philosophical and open-minded,not religious and I have tons of common sense.Where do voices come from besides your own thoughts? Maybe I am in a constant state of meditation?God is the cult of personality and I know my own mind does not make them up.Thanks.

i'm doing a short film for my video productions class and i'd like to hear ur suggestions. i'd best prefer them to be:
* philosophical
* artistic
* philosophies affecting society today
* about the strangeness of life

i'm trying to make it as different as possible. like i'm even thinking of not using any concrete story involving a main character. but like a collage of clips completely unrelated to each other and put it together in a way where it starts to build one complete idea.

i'd really appreciate it if someone could at least share some ideas. :) thank you.

Life begins as nothing. This is how my life and everyone in the world begins thier life, with absolutely nothing. No ego, no real sense of self, no goals, none of the schemes that we all form in the attempt to make it in this world that man has created. The only thing that any of us really has is a future, and a destiny. And I began life the same way as every other human on this small planet, with nothing but a name and a future. . .
