Belief in a higher power.
Why?
Inherent human need, to think that:
-We're not alone.
-There's something else after death.
-There's someone that can grant us things; or punish us if need be.
-Response at improbable, unexplicable, shocking events.
-Response when we marvel at the perfection of nature.

I believe in God because every once and awhile I get that odd feeling that creeps up over the back of my neck and grabs hold of me. Its the feeling, even if I can only hold it for a second, of acknowledging that I exist. I can feel my existence as a tangible thing and, perhaps, also get a little glimmer of nonexistence with which I contrast my being.

Every thought, every action, every molecule, every being, including my own, had to all start somewhere. Existence without a God implies that somewhere, at some point, all of this beingness came out of nothingness. Pure nothingness has no potential to become something else. If it had potential it wouldn't truly be complete nothingness. Therefore, there must be Something which has always existed and kicked everything else, all this being around us and within us, into motion. I believe the only answer to this that science can give is that perhaps the universe or some form of it, and/or its laws has existed for all eternity. This may be just as well, however, that sounds very God-like and whose to say exactly that it isn't?

....now as to who or what this God is, i am not sure......

Well, let me tell you something interesting that kinda shook me up when I heard about it.
A while ago, scientists discovered a molecule that is smaller than the atom.
This finding alone, distinguishes the belief that humans have known and studied all these years;that the atom is the smallest form of existing matter and energy.
Well, that molecule was, a molecule of sound.
I realised that all those many years ago, thats exactly what happened, God spoke the earth into existence.
And thats the God I serve.
I just have to pause for a second and consider nature and the intricacy of the human body and I cannot deny that God exists.
Peace, love and hapiness

"after all it's just a belief"

faith isn't believing something other people don't. faith is knowing something that other people merely believe in.

Do I believe in a JudeoChristian, benevolent and vengeful sky-father type god? No.

I do believe in the infinite. We can concieve of infinity, therefore there is an infinity. And the sum total of everything that there is and isn't, which must constitute an infinitude, well, that's my concept of god.

I think Dogbert says it best when he points out that evolution trends to make more complex forms from simpler ones. Therefore God is not in our past, but in our future.

Let me go back a little...My first book was the bible where I learned my first words. I was raised in the South where you're sent to church every Sunday. My family was very deep into the words of God. I was raised with His words everyday of my life. I believe in God because I have been through a lot of stuff in my life and without Him I have no ideal where I would be.

I believe in God because I cannot believe that the universe, in all its diversity, evolved by chance. I believe that some controlling entity started the ball rolling and that people have free will to affect the outcomes of their lives.

"There are only two ways to live your life, one is as though nothing is a miracle, and the other is as though
everything is a miracle." Albert Einstein

For those people who take science for granted will say:
I just believe in god! period ! Why?
Because it is an non-logical question!
You can't really expect people to answer you this question with rational thought.
After all, it is just a belief!

The only god I believe in is me. As for why, the other god doesn't talk to me or never even answered my prayers, or anything that matters to me, and I am supposed to worship this dude, c'mon. Would you believe in me, worship me if I jerked you around ? Oh yeah, sure you would.
