Anyone else find this hard to beleive. We could never even begin to understand something that created the entire universe, so why do people think that prayers can happen.. I believe in a higher power, but also believe that that higher power is beyond any human understanding...not trying to start a riot here either christans just conversation-thoughts anyone?

to put your hand on or over the injured spot when you get hurt in that area? It also seems natural to do the same with your child or someone you care about. They get hurt and you automatically touch that person to help.

Does this gesture derive from the compassion in us or is it just a unconcious reaction?

What if he thought he had to because he was halucinating that he accidently set off an atomic bomb and he killed a million people. His attempt at suicide would be for guilt. It would be temporary mental illness and could be forgiven with treatment.

My entire life I've been connected to a universe within, as well as to a universe beyond myself. I dream dreams that go far beyond what I could ever describe here, but which are re-created in the novels I've written, and in the worlds that swirl within my mind, still awaiting expression. Sometimes I see others for the first time, and a spark rifles through me that exclaims, "I know this person beyond and before this moment." I simply know things, from emotions, to history, to science, to creative solutions to problems. This has enabled me to get my degrees, write my novels, author solutions in psychology, and build businesses. Competing with the sub-cognitive numb-nuts of the world is no more difficult for me than competing with monkeys in a spelling-bee. But I'm not alone. I think forums like this attract us. You may see some of the numb-nuts express their impotence right here, right now. But what about you who are like I am? You know yourselves. Who are we? Where do we come from?

Can you?
I see life and light, all the colors of the world. So beautiful! Won't you come with me?

Why can't we consider things from another point of view? Why can't all be happy? Why can't we tear down the walls that divide us, the ignorace that draws us appart, the wars that others organize in our name? Can't we all just realize that we are all ordinary human beings with the same root dreams, needs and desires?

You travel in a time machine. You meet Adolf Hitler while he is still a young man who has harmed no one. My question is do you:
1-try to convince him to change his future behaviors (in whatever way you think you can)
or
2-put a bullet in his head before he can harm anyone?

This topic has been argued many times in classes. I'm curious to see what people here think.

Whenever faced with a crisis, you might keep thinking "I should do this or shouldn't" hundreds of times and reaching nowhere. And if you examined the very basis of those "shoulds", you might realize how hollow it was all together. Many of the dictates that you get governed by (without realizing it's happening) are actually words either from your family or the society that you have been part of. Everyone out there is flawed like us.....but, we have to continue arguing "should I do or shouldn't" blindfolded like everyone else does.

Shouldn't we try to reexamine therefore the "shoulds" in our lives first?
(In my opinion, they are the genesis of many a problems that we have individually)

As any labtech will tell you, the culture can only grow by consuming the resourses available. As humanity continues to grow, we are rapidly outpacing the ability of the planetary resourses to provide sustanance without destroying the biosphere we so urgently need. Because of the inherent volotility of human interaction, as God, would you still consider the species a viable enough gamble for the evolution of the biomass? Or, would you wipe them out so as to save other species that have the potential to rise to the challenge of enlightened evolution?
