My chorus teacher wants me to do this big huge solo for the new student orientation at my school. I don't know whether I should do it or not though. My mom's bf says I should because I have a great voice, and I need to show it off. My mom says maybe maybe not, because she has my transportation, and she says that she really doesn't want to take time off work, but it is up to me whether I want to do it or not.

My choir teacher wants me to have an answer for her by the end of the day today. I would be so nervous if I did the solo, but it is a chance to make a good impression on the newer portion of my student body. I wouldn't know what song to sing either, so do you think that I should do it, and if so, what song should I sing?

Thank you guys so much, and no smart remarks please. If you can't say something nice, don't say it at all!

My friend and I want to sing a duet at a fundraiser TOMORROW. We want to sing "Learning to be Silent" from the musical Footloose, but we're having the hardest time finding sheet music. I've called several of my friends, one of which has a sister who is touring with 25th Annunal Putnam County Spelling Bee and even SHE doesn't have the sheet music! Anyone know where I can get some either for free or for a very low price?

I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio. I just like the sound of it. It is wine red with gold hardware. I paid 1200.00. Worth every penny!

There are two different guitars at the locale music store. They are both Epiphone Les Paul's, but one has dot inlays and the other one has Trapezoid inlays. Is there any difference in quality between these two, or are they the same quality but the only difference is the inlays? Because the guitar with the Trapezoid inlays costs about, a hundred bucks more.

I'm thinking of buying & learning the sitar, but i need to know a few things,
1. How hard is it to learn if i'm already good on guitar?
2. How much does it usually cost?

I'm a complete beginner and I already have lessons planned that start next Thursday.

Is there anything I can do in the meantime or should I just chill til I meet my instructor?

I looked on YouTube already and couldn't find anything pertinent.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have an opportunity to have one of my songs (one of my more popular ones) to be included on a compilation CD with 11,000 distributed all over the globe, retail stores, radio, etc. BUT... the record company, WOA international, asks to keep the exclusive licensing rights to the song for 5 years! That means that song cant appear on other compilations, video games or appear in TV/film spots, etc by sources OTHER than threw WOA's efforts. Although during those 5 years, they say they will be actively shopping the song around during those 5 years.
Is this a good deal?

I would like:
-not all power chords
-not something too easy, like Green Day's Good Riddance, more like Jack Johnson's Better Together
-can sing along (not scream along)

I'm not picky about the genre, I really just don't want to open any more tabs and see only power chords and the such haha.

I've recently learned to play guitar. My brother in law knows a few bass runs. My question: How do I play/jam with him? How do I know what to play (what key, chords) while watching what he's doing?
We both sound pretty good alone, but we don't know how to sound good together. Not much of a theory guy, but if that's the way it must be...:-(

i've been playing guitar for about 2 and 1/2 years now, i am currently 15 and i've seem to come at a block in my playing...
a few songs i can play are one- metallica (rhythym and lead) but only the first like 3 minutes... i'm too lazy to learn the whole thing
stairway to heaven solo and all
and i just can't find any songs that will increase my playing skill but isn't too big of a step for me
i know i'm slow for 2 1/2 years and i was hoping you guys could help me out,
i've tried a private teacher in my most recent 1/2 year but he is noticably more interested in money than helping me out :\

Now I've had piano lessons when i was in 5th and 6th grade. Well I'm 18 now and I've almost completely forgotten it all and want to get back into piano. Maybe it might come back to me once i get into piano lessons again, I'm not sure. But I also want to take guitar lessons at the same time because I've always had a profound interest in guitar as well. I want to sign up for a once-a-week piano class at the local community college at my town and also do once-a-week private guitar lessons.
Do you think it's a good idea to learn those two at once?

Okay so I am right handed naturally in EVERYTHING, but for some reason holding a left handed guitar seems to feel better. It seems that my right hand is much stronger and capable of playing the frets. I really feel comfortable holding the guitar either way, but playing it seems that my right hand is stronger on the frets. Should I get the left handed or right handed one?
