There are two different guitars at the locale music store. They are both Epiphone Les Paul's, but one has dot inlays and the other one has Trapezoid inlays. Is there any difference in quality between these two, or are they the same quality but the only difference is the inlays? Because the guitar with the Trapezoid inlays costs about, a hundred bucks more.

Without knowing the model numbers I really couldn't tell you much but my advice would be the same. Go down to a music store and try both of them out. If you can't tell the difference, buy the cheaper one. If you can, then it's worth the extra money to get the one that you'll be more likely to play.

Remember that the guitar with the trapezoid inlays may also have humbucking pickups (quieter with no buzz at higher volume levels) or other goodies that aren't apparent to the naked eye. So go downtown and check them out and pick the one that rocks your world!

Go to the store and try them out. If u can use an amp like ur own, so much the better. Check the action and intonation on both. Try all the pickup settings, volume control, tone control, etc. Ask why one is so much more expensive, but in the final analysis, it's the one that you prefer to play, the one that gives the sound u want that is the one for you. Hope this helps.

There could be any number of differences. In order to be specific one would need to know the exact model of both guitars. (i.e. Epiphone Les Paul custom, standard, studio, signature, etc. etc.)
