In Europe, Africa, America...? I found easily that one thing similar in all those places was that they traded for want. But what about differences? I think I can only think of one per region.

I'm looking specifically for books about the US Army Air Force in the Pacific during World War 2. I'm doing research for notes I'm putting into a typed transcription of my late grandfather's diaries. He was a mechanic in the Army Air Corps at Pearl Harbor in 1941 and later at Espiritu Santo in 42 and 43.

There's a lot out there about the Navy and Marines and individual battles and campaigns, but not a lot about the US Army Air Force and it's doings (both on the ground and service history). Can anyone help me with any suggested reading?
