because we are doing very little to conserve our resources or our environment.because we have subjugated real scientific research and original thinking to technology, humanity has a very bleak future. when the oil runs out or becomes too expensive to produce, our economies will collapse. we won't have efficient electric cars, you can forget electric aircraft. as the economy becomes more globalized the gap between rich and poor countries will shrink, but the gap between the employed and unemployed, the rich and the poor will increase as the powerful try to monopolize resources. there will be wars over resources, already we see china and the u.s. trying to monopolize what is left of the world's oil. as unemployment grows due to increased automation of industry and services, the tax base of nations will start to fail as corporations have become so powerful they have the influence to make governments pass laws which exempt them from any meaningful taxation. the rich and employed will retreat into walled communities and leave the rest to fester. democracy will either become a fig leaf or will be totally replaced by authoritarian regimes. have a nice day.

How would someone from 1900 see the world 100 years from then? I think it is difficult to comprehend the changes that will occur. As a previous poster said, hopefully we'll be more peaceful.

I'm hoping that a symbiosis of human technology and the environment occurs, where human innovation is no longer in conflict with nature. I also see the beginnings of space colonisation, beginning with orbital habitats and lunar colonies. I also see a greater unity among the nations of the world, with countries ceding their prerogatives of war to a greater planetary parliament, although I suspect that nations will maintain some rights to themselves (much like US states or Canadian provinces do with their Federal governments).
This is, of course, all conditioned on the notion that we don't nuke ourselves into oblivion.

I firmly believe in the Bible. Therefore, I believe that Jesus would have returned. And there would be no earthly world. Just Heaven and hell.
