The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver explores the importance of family through each character’s individual experiences with finding a group of people to with which they connect. The need for a supporting family and reliance on others is extremely crucial to the characters’ development over extent the novel.

if it is awkward (and I kind of think it is...) how can I improve it? Thanks so much

I'm looking for a good book to read on my trip to and from work. I like murder mysteries, psychological thrillers, horrors, and philosophical , basically stuff that make you think. List some books that will keep me wanting to turn the next page. Sci Fi books are ok too.

Today I discovered a new inspiration directed to me as a thought. I believe this also to be fate as it happened to be all of a sudden. A quick command hit me like a flash of beeming light. I heard my own voice within talking loud enough for my thoughts to begin by a guided force also called a guardian angel was sent to help enlighten me. It was my soul telling me today i will learn to be a critical thinker was all i was told by me heard by my own voice in my own thought. I felt a little uncertain of my demand because its in the books where i'm suppose to discover. Now leaving me a little nervous since i very little read. But remembered never a quick decision is made as it is a process where you steps to follow gathering relevant information and to synthesize this information, keeping an open mind looking at other options, alternatives, asking questions being insightful, analyze of info for clusters or patterns that point to certain conclusions and uses inference to draw the conclusion

You can teach a person the rules of grammar and rhetoric but that is not what makes a great author's work come to life.

To what extent do you believe that great writing is a gift or is it taught, or perhaps self-taught, the way Van Gogh taught himself to paint what he saw.

Are the great writers gifted with the skill of word craft or do you believe they learned it by reading others?

Also to what extent do you think a persons life-experience plays in the quality of work or the style in which the work is presented?

Hi. I am a huge Stephen King fan. I've read all of his books, at least two times. I've found it pretty hard to find other authors that write horror that keep my interest piqued. (I don't like vampires or aliens. And, please, although most authors use sex in their books, I can't stand the ones who use it constantly or in explicit detail.) Can you recommend some horror authors who spin a good tale?

I need the title to a drum book...it's a typical old school textbook style book on drums. I think the title is basic rock drumming or something really simple like that. it doesn't have anything fancy on the cover..its really simple and old school like george stones stick control style but much thicker. probably a good 150 or 200 pages. it has a hot pink cover too.
if anybody could help me and tell me the actual title and where i could buy it from that'd be awesome
thanks

I read them over the Summer and I was just wondering because none of my high school friends have read them, and I love to discuss books with people.
Also I can't wait for the conclusion on the 13th of November!

The world I come from is full of misery, but I never put my head down. One will never hear me say, “I can’t do this”, “I quit”, or “I give up”. Many times, I thought doors would close on me, but I always find my way through the dark. Even though my parents never showed me support, I do not let personal problems intervene with my education. Every night I thank God that I am alive and healthy. I am frustrated of the violence and the misconduct around my community. My school discriminates one by race; I surpass people like that because I believe in equity. Becoming a social worker is my dream, aspiration, and desire. Through my experience, I want to help others that their parents had abandoned them as they did to me.

I have never written a book before and honestly haven't done to much reading lately. No matter... I would like to write a book about my opinion on many of the hot topics in society today. Some controversial and with so much debate that it might stir up the hornets nest! I do not plan on writng anything that will puposely offend people. The catch is that I would like to keep that author of the book anoymous. I already have a catchy titile that I have already asked some of my friends about. Is it possibile to do that?

Grateful for thoughts, comments, ideas and criticism of this short piece I have written about friendship, bereavement and hope. I wrote it recently and it deals with what happened when my best friend died of Aids in 1992.

I am writing a story about a boy who is pressured by his father, his family, and his culture to conform to the "normal" way of their life. Part of their culture is for boy to, at a cirtain age, take part in a test that should mould him into a man. Then he does his duty and conforms to the "norm". However, my boy is different, and doesn't know who he is or if he wants to conform like everyone else. I wanted the test he partakes in to prepare him for, not only manhood, but also how to deal the challanges he faces at home.

I need a twist that will take place after his big test, after he becomes a man, but im having a lot of difficulty trying to figure a good one out. Aside from the obvious: that he chooses to be different.
I think i might add a girl with the same ambition into the mix, so i'm also considering that.

Any idea's will help tremendously. Thanks!

I read a romance novel about two half sisters. One of them got engaged but the older brother of the groom won't let them get married. So the half sister who looks just like the other one, distracts the older brother while the other sister and groom get married. He takes her to his villa in Italy I think and won't let her go. He's a huge jerk, but ends up falling for her, still thinking she is with his brother.
I forget the name and can't find it online. Any ideas?
