I'm from the UK, and was just wondering, if your novel gets published, and you get an advance, do you have to declare this to the inland revune? Does the publisher deduct tax from it? I'm very confused!

My 9 yr old son wants to write a book/comic/short story of some kind and attempt to have it published. I know I'm his Mom, but as an avid reader, I really think he may have what it takes. His teacher says he's definitely her best reading/writing student. So here's my question: How do we begin this process? I'm an avid book lover but am clueless as to where to start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much

Could anyone give me the excerpt in which Harry sees his parents (along with Snape) in the pensive. I've just heard about it and don't remember reading about it in any of the books. Also, it would be very kind of u to mention the name of the book (I think it is Oop, not sure). Thanks

P.S. - U could also contact me or explain it.

I mean think about it. He says he hates mudbloods and halfbloods. When he works with werewolves, and he himself is a halfblood. Does anyone else understand what a screw up that is? It makes no sense to me. Now I understand that no one really know he is but Harry and Dumbledore, but still I messes with my head. I mean I love Harry Potter but this drives me crazy.

House on Mango Street is a novel with short chapters told from the viewpoint of a girl. The chapters are short and don't have a continuous plot; they are more like mini-episodes although they have the same characters and the characters view does change. Can you think of another modern novel with this format?
