The first I remember reading were the Little House On The Prairie series, but I'm sure I read many others before then.

I don't remember the very first book I read on my own, but "Charlotte's Web" comes to mind. So does, "Are You There God? It's Me Margaret."

I can't really remember exactly. If you're talking about chapter books (as opposed to picture books) it was probably one of the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary.

Yesterday my 7 year old finished his very first chapter book that he read to himself and I am soooo proud of him! The book is Ferno the Fire Dragon and it is the first book of the Beast Quest series.

That was a very long time ago, but the first book I really remember reading was Captain Kangaroo - a Golden Book - and I still own it. Pax - C

"The Little White Rabbit Who Wanted Red Wings", the 1940's version with double pages and fabulous illustration. I can still clearly see the pictures and the little faces and the colors lol.

Dr. Seuss all of them. The first was One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. I was almost 3 then.

Where The Wild Things Are by Sendak..still my favorite, read it to all my kids and it was the first book they got as kids.
