It's about a depressed girl, and her father did something to her so she's in a bording school, she doesn't talk that much, and another girl treats her like a puppet, by putting her hand up her back and talking, it's a diary like book with April, May, June....etc, i think it has heart in the title...

Well I see it in a book by Sir William Temple, but other sources (on the internet, but not Wiki) are saying Thomas Fuller. It's a memorable quote. Sir William Temple's "Upon the Gardens of Epicurus" was written in 1685.

I am a sophomore in college and need to declare my major soon. I love to read and write and I consider myself to be alright at both things. I was thinking English would be a good fit for me. I've always had dreams of being a book editor for childrens or young adult books. But I'm wondering if English would be the right major? Would it give me the experience and correct classes for this job? Or would, let's say Journalism be more suitable?

I know of this really great book by Lois Lowery & its about these 2 girls, one is Jewish & the other is American. The Nazis are invading Denmark (the setting) & Ellen (the Jew) & her family are seperated. Annemarie (American) & her family decide to hide her in their house...which is very dangerous. theres alot more 2 this story, but anyone know the title???

I'd prefer to read something centered around political or social thought. Books on world economy, legal misteries or delemas and world/alternative religions are also welcomed.

I've already read the John Grisham collection, a few books by James Patterson, The Politics of Change by Micheal Manley, a fewe book by Depak Chopra ( not a fan of him really) and The House of Lim.

I'm trying to improe my dwindling vocabulary and wake my mind up, so please help me out.

Thanks.

I'm a 16 year old who reads a lot of both teenager books and adult books. I just need recomendations; I'll read almost anything besides Sci-Fi, and even then, that's not set in stone. Here's a list of some books I've recently read, to give you an idea of my varied reading tastes:
Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Howards End, Twilight and New Moon, The Sun Also Rises, The Last Templar, Marley and Me, The Devil Wears Prada, LOTR, I Am Charlotte Simmons, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Pride and Prejudice, The Book of Honor, The Da Vinci Code, The Red Tent, the Young Wizards Series...basically, if it's anything (literally anything) but sci-fi, it's fair game. Thanks much!

Have many people done this? I am 21 year/old man and I've been writing since 1999 about my life, in general. Obviously, my writing has become more mature and my writing has changed as I have changed.

But, in 2003, when i graduated from high school, I started writing them in their own notebooks and I gave the notebook a name. Kind of like giving an c.d. a title. Usually, these notebooks contain anywhere from 50-100 pieces of freestyle and lyrical poetry. In my 3rd one (which is about 1-2 weeks away from being completed), I mix together fiction and non-fiction and it's really been a much more mature effort than all my other stuff. I'm really proud of it, so far.

Anyways, the basic question is, does anybody else do this in this manner? I'm just wondering how many of us think alike.

There are plenty of characters in a story, and one has to be creative to come up with unused character names in past stories...
