If I were to go off the generalization of the Raven, most people would assume him to be Death...I've often thought he was guilt.

The narrator is torn between remembrance and forgetting his love Leonore.

The raven, constantly croaking "Nevermore" constantly reminds us, and the narrator, that death is the end.
