A friend of mine suggested that I see if a womens' magazine will publish my story as a series of short stories, any ideas of which magazine and who I can e-mail about it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for a literary agent that will read my maniscript now without charging me to read it and if they sign me then take it out of the first check I would (hopefully) get. I have been wanting to do this for a long time and I am now really trying to fullfill my dream. Thanks in advance.

lets's see, it has to be non-fiction.
I prefer something controversial, maybe political, historical or autobiographies.

Good non fiction perhaps the winner of some sort of prize.

I need to read for my A.P. (advanced placement) english class

Nine out of the top ten books on this week's Sunday Times list are by female authors.
Historically, males are not attracted to emotionally-charged books written by and FOR females. (80% of the book-buying public are women).
Therefore, is the male reader going the same way as the dodo?

Specifically science fiction... I have a bad habit of switching tenses as I write, and I'm having a hard time deciding which tense sounds best (I usually lean toward past tense, but I can't always make it flow properly). Suggestions?

here is another poem of mine, and well i just want to see what you thought. If your gonna say something mean plz don't say anything at all! Thats all i ask.

I want your love forever more!
I want your love
no matter what it is
how hard i even try!

I got my dream/wish taken away
you gave it to someone
they don't need it from you anyways!

I need some love
how come i can't get none?

Sometimes i sit and think and wonder
"why me?"
I sit and sit and think

I really want your love and forever more!
I want you in my life, always!

She don't need you, she can have someone else.
Your the one, the one i need!

She may have had gotten out of a long relationship...
but whats this gonna do her any good?

I sit here more alone than ever before
I listen to music, a sad song comes on the radio
What does it do?
It makes me cry because i think of you.

Why does it have to be her?
Why can't it be me?
Am i not good enough for you?

I tried my best, i tried so hard

I'm writing a novel that's set in a real city in Texas (as opposed to a fictional one), with a population of about 200,000 people. Anyways, just out of curiosity I decided to google the names of my characters, to see if there were any people with those names, especially in the town my novel is set in. I discovered one major problem... one of my fairly major (but not central) characters is named "Lucy Hernandez", and apparently there is a real Lucy Hernandez in this town. I'm guessing it would be a fairly common name in an area with a large Latino population, but should I change it just to be safe? Because I'd really rather not be sued.
