The Composition

My hands flow over the keys,
Testing the chords,
Decding what I want,
This composition to say.

Surroundings and myself,
Join as one,
As the music plays,
As I find the expression.

The pedel is pressed down,
To hold onto that one note,
The lovely moment lasts,
To emphasize that some part of my composition was pleasent.

One hand moves quickly,
At the same time another part of my body,
Moves slowly, doing other things.
And they weave to form the music.

Some of my composition,
Is slow and sweet,
Others deep and angry,
As I sit and tell a story with my hands.

Some people adore my piece,
Others detest it.
And yet the composition does not change,
It is the same combinations, confident in itself.

Oh, how this piano piece is so like life,
My compostion of emotions.
To be loved by some,
To have so many activites all at once.

The melody is simple,
What lies beneath different.
I can decide,
What I want my composition of life to say.

You're the smile that I carry so often on my face,
I no longer fear being accepted, you're my precious embrace
With you there is no need to be afraid, for everything falls so perfectly in place,
You help me to relax, remind me that life isen't always a race.

You're the warmth within my heart,
I see the world like I never could before, as if everything is beautiful art,
With you there is no need to second guess, you have uncovered everything from the start,
You are my world, no one can compare, you're set apart.

You're my everything, my life, my love,
I see the things love truely consist of,
with you in my life I feel no temptation that I am not above,
You are in my thoughts, and in my dreams it's you I think of.

It doesn't have to be about a musicians life, but it has to involve rock music.

I think it was written by Irwin Shaw. Maybe Leon Uris. There is something I have always wondered about. Alfred Eaton was so driven to succeed and one point, observed that he didn't want to be one of those idle, rich people "who drive cars from one place to another" for their friends. Yet when he left his wife for his mistress, that is exactly what he turned into. I have never understood why he did that? It didn't seem to jive with the theme of the novel. What have I misunderstood? Literature teachers, welcome!

Have read all the books I have been given. Have delved into my boxes of long ago read books and started rereading them (This is actually not a bad thing,,, altho I know what's going to be said, as I grow older I see things in a different light or pick up on points I missed before)

Still,,, I do hanker for fresh plots at the moment....

I read pretty much anything, fiction, non-fiction,,,comedy, sci-fi ,,, the list goes on.

What do you reccomend?

I had a similar question posted earlier- but I am new to this I closed it out too early- I would like more suggestions! Thanks to those who answerd though, they were all good suggestions.
I am looking for suggestions for my book club- our favorites have been 'The Kite Runner,' 'Memoirs of a Geisha,' 'How to be Lost,' 'Girl with a Pearl Earring,' 'Night,' 'The Memory Keeper's Daughter', and several other Target book club picks! We are a group of 20 and 30 something women, many teachers. Any ideas of what we'd like? Considering our favorites, do you think we would like 'Saving fish from drowning' by Amy Tan? Thanks!

I'd prefer fiction books that have been bestsellers. Witty books are good, or just books that you can't stop reading. Thanks.
