a character's name in my novel is Kimmi (she is of Chinese ancestory) but i don't wish to directly have this known in the novel, as it is not important. By the spelling of this name though, would you, as a reader, guess that she were Chinese?

I've bought 2 books online, the books description states that the books still have the "author's black mark" on them. what does it mean, or what is the signifigance of these. When i obtained these books, the books actually had the black mark on the depth pages, like a little mark with a marker or something. just curious about what it means.

Please don't say Lord of the Rings. The only stipulation is that the series must be complete. I'm reading 2 different series right now and i'm waiting for books to be written in both. I don't like that.

Mink= Marissa
Kal= Kahlie
Jen= Jenny
Char= Charlean

So on and so forth.

How would you spell the name Paige with a gy sound at the end? (I think it is a gy sound. I pronouce it almost like Maggie, with that sound at the end)

Recent film versions of books like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe stirred up memories of another book I read as a teen about 25-30 years ago. All I remember about it is that it involved young characters, a tree swing? or a gazebo? and time travel or traveling to another place/dimension similar to Narnia. Could it possibly have involved a child's drawings coming to life but still being 2-dimensional. If anyone knows the name of this book, let me know - it's bugging me. Thanks! I'm a woman, could have been more of a "girl's book."

I need a good poem for a forensics (Speech & Debate) competition this Thursday. It should last more then 5 minutes but not more then 7 or 8 minutes. I needs to be a published poem...and doesn't have to be about anything specific....I just need one because I'm being forced to try poetry and prose.

Are libraries turning into internet cafes? If you've been to a library recently, you may have noticed there are far more people at computer terminals than reading books. Personally, I can't complain. I don't need to wrestle anyone for a book so I don't get punched and kicked as often. I can sit on the floor in an aisle and read without blocking any one's passage. Maybe before long I'll be able to check out books, and they won't even care if I return them.

I have never liked any fiction writer. However I've start readed book written by Jules Verne and I really like his writing.

Only other fiction book I liked was "Splinter Cell" by Tom Clancy.

Howcome I doesn't like anything else?

Is the fiction writer getting worse everyday or their writing style are different today or what?
