When I was in junior high (about 12 years ago) we had an elective class where a teacher would read to us one of the books/short stories involved animals living in the wild as characters (they had human-like personalities) I believe that some of the characters were a wolf and a badger. At one point, one of them (the badger?) is shot and eventually dies. The description of the wound is pretty gruesome - something like one animal noticing that most of the others face is gone.

I have very pleasant memories of my math teacher turning down the lights while we all listened in awe...I would love to track this book down.

I plan on writing a Young Adult Fiction novel and I already have written down ideas, etc. But I didn't want to actually get writing until I found out a few things.

How do I go about getting my novel published? How do I find a good agent? Also, I plan on using a pen name since my own name is quite long and hard to pronounce for some people (it's French) so do I write a rough draft using a pen name then tell prospective agents that it is a pen name? Or write it an get an agent using my real name and then publish it under a pen name? Please explain with details.

Thanks!

I borrowed a book from the Brampton Library- Cyril Clark Branch. The book is called The Highs and Lows of being Mia. It is a soft cover, not a hard one. I hear the hard covers are more expensive. I lost the book and have no idea where it is. I was wondering how much I had to pay to replace it :( :( :( :( :(

I'm reading the series, and I'm on the Dragon books now. (And yes, I'm an adult! But my daughter loved the books so I got hooked on them too!)

Anyway, my daughter and I cannot figure out what happened to Leif's father. He was alive at the end of the first set of books ("Return to Del") But then he was gone in the Shadowland books and Leif was king. I don't recall any mention of his death.

Does anybody know what happened to him?

Well, here's some books I really liked, just curious as to how popular they are with avid contemporary readers here:

Angels and Demons
The Da Vinci Code
Digital Fortress
Deception Point
(All of the above are by Dan Brown)

Message In A Bottle
The Notebook
Nights in Rodanthe
A Bend in the Road
At First Sight
(all of the above are by Nicholas Sparks, I didn't list them all, but I've read nearly all of his books)

Harry Potter Series

The Golden Compass
The Subtle Knife
The Amber Spyglass
Lyra's Oxford
(by Philip Pullman)

Inkheart
Inkspell
(By Cornelia Funke)

Eragon
Eldest
(by Christopher Paolini)

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd

Anything by Sarah Dessen

Where The Heart is by Billie Letts

Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls

Old Yeller by Fred Gipson

Chesepeake Blue by Nora Roberts

ONce in a Lifetime
Fine Things
(by Danielle Steel)

Well, just curious. Please give me your opinions on these novels.

Someone sent me this book to read, I don't want to be rude and say "I didn't enjoy it" "I've tried hard, but in 5 days I've only made it to page 38" or "It bores me". Truth is, it puts me to sleep and I can't imagine reading it. But I know that my friend will want to talk about the book and ask questions about what I thought.

Can anyone tell me in detail about it? Or maybe a website that will tell me? I love reading ~ but this book doesn't interest me. Thanks

as previously mentioned, I'm reading through "THE GODFATHER". i saw the movie a while back ago (2001, give or take), & so remembering who played who (Marlon Brando-Vito Corleone, Al Pachino-Michael Corleone, etc) helps me visualize the characters & the scenes better. but then the draw back is that i know allot of "what's going to happen next & how". which is a drag for me when I'm really getting into it & hanging on every word.
so what do you think?
