I read it for the first time quite recently and because I chose to. I had no idea what it is was about. but had heard that it is a classic.
I wanted to actually give a gift to someone and I thought of this book but then I didnt want to give it just because it is called a classic and I hadnt read it.
So i started reading it and vow. I could not keep it down till I had finished it.
It is one of the best books I have ever read.
It also sounded perfect as a gift because I wanted to gift it to a cousin brother with whom I share some fantastic childhood memories.

I had seen the movie prior to reading the book. The first time I read my brothers copy at home (about 12). I re-read it when it was an assignment at school (about 16). It was a nice book to read because it wasn't all negative, there was a lot about the families interaction. And the writing is so skillful, it was an easy read.

Surprisingly, I've never read it. We always read books in school that a lot of other schools didn't read. I'm not much of a person to read unless it's something informative. I'm mopre about learning about something instead of reading about fictional events. I do enjoy fantasy and military strategy type novels every once in a while though.

The first time I read it as an assignment. The second time because I
wanted to. The third time is coming soon and I'm looking forward to it.
I loved the book.

In 5th grade because I had to...I didn't really like it then but read it later in life and actually enjoyed it, I think it is a really good book but you can't enjoy it until you are a little older.

I read it as a requirement, and I enjoyed it very much. We also watched the movie afterwards. Also very well done. It's just an excellent piece of American literature.

I first read it because it was assigned in school. But I really enjoyed it so if it had not been assigned, I probably would have read it on my own sooner or later.

I chose to read it and never had to in school- I think that would have ruined it for me. I generally end up disliking books from school because we are forced to over-analyze and I can't get that out of my head later. alas.

I chose to and I loved it. The movie is also good, but not quite as good as the book.
