Examples:
The Lion King is based on Hamlet- Shakespeare

The Ten Things I hate About You is based on The Taming of the Shrew- Shakespeare

She's the Man is based on Twelfth Night- Shakespeare

Clueless is based on Emma- Jane Austen

Can anyone think of some more good ones? I love watching movies like these and seeing how directors take classic stories into modern day settings.

~Thank you

I have read several Booker Prize Winners books.I find that most writers have a very rich vocabulary .Arundhati Roy ,the writer of God of Small Things seems to know too many words, which are not commonly used. Some people describe her book as a torturous prose. Are some people just born with a rich vocab or is it something else.

Because, my writing is apparently horrible in English class, but then I get awards for being a great writer and I am an editor of my school newspaper. I have also been writing short stories since elementary school, etc. I also work as an intern at my local news station. But in all of my English classes, I get B's, but horrible writers get A's, why is this?

Sorry if my grammar is bad,I am using a mac laptop in my class and they are horrible!

Sometimes I am so immersed in the story that I want it to continue - and I feel lost when it ends. Have you ever had that happen to you?

I can't remember the name of the book about a man who hunts for diamonds.
He married the daughter of the man he worked for but didn't love her. It was
for revenge. He had a partner who helped him find his first diamonds which
they stole. The two guards who almost caught them kept calling out each
others names in the fog. They named their company after those two gaurds.
I think it was also made into a tv movie. It might have been about ten years
ago. I would love to read the book again.
