Because, my writing is apparently horrible in English class, but then I get awards for being a great writer and I am an editor of my school newspaper. I have also been writing short stories since elementary school, etc. I also work as an intern at my local news station. But in all of my English classes, I get B's, but horrible writers get A's, why is this?

Sorry if my grammar is bad,I am using a mac laptop in my class and they are horrible!

WTF? I said I write for a newspaper, that can vary in the type of writing and I have WRITTEN short stories, that IS creative writing.I believe that the basis of common sense is limited in this country. If journalism and publishing fairy tales isn't creative writing, then I do not know what is.

Stop giving me STUPID answers.

Proust was supposed to have been hopeless at grammar, which would explain some of the stranger sentences in "A la Recherche du Temps Perdu."

However, your situation could be one of several things. Maybe your gift is for journalism and creative writing simply isn't your forte. Or (my favorite alternatives) your teacher is either stupid or playing favorites.

Good luck!

In some cases yes, and in others, no. If it's in grammer classes then no. If it's in creative writing classes then I would have to answer yes. Grammer is something that you can either pass or fail. It cannot be judged differently by one teacher or another. Writing, however is different. Your individuality comes out when you write and different instructors will grade you differently depending on their personal opinions. If you are failing or not doing so well in grammar, you need to study more.

It depends. Good writers come from all walks of life. Some didn't do too well in school, while others excelled. Generally, writers are better at languages (because that is their tool of choice), but I wouldn't say your condemned from the get-go just because you have bad grades in English. It may be you just need to work harder at it.

I suspect those horrible writers manage to use the sort of conventional grammar and structure English teaches tend to favor. On the other hand, whatever its literary merits might be, work in the manner of, say, William Faulkner, might not be as well received.

REALLY SORRY ABOUT THE STUPID ANSWERS YOU RECEIVED THEY SCARED ME TOO I DON'T HAVE A REAL ANSWER BUT WHAT I THINK IS JUST WHAT YOUR TEACHER SAID WHEN WRITERS WRITE THEY DON'T NEED OR USUALLY USE THE PROPER METHODS OR REGULATIONS OF WRITING. ENGLISH USE AND LANGUAGE USE ARE TO DIFFERENT THINGS
