I think the theme is that love doesn't always take exactly the direction that you think it will. It can take many twists and turns.

Like Oberon playing that trick on Titiana, "Me thought I was enamored of an ***!" I ablsolutely love that line.

And it all works out in the end for the best. I think the faeries are just playing themselves.

The themes illustrated in the play are that Love triumphs in the end and the pleasure of Dreaming the Impossible Dream.
