I borrowed a book from the Brampton Library- Cyril Clark Branch. The book is called The Highs and Lows of being Mia. It is a soft cover, not a hard one. I hear the hard covers are more expensive. I lost the book and have no idea where it is. I was wondering how much I had to pay to replace it :( :( :( :( :(

That can vary according to the library system. Some ask for replacement cost and others charge the current value of the book. Call the library.

You should renew the book if you can and for as long as you can and look for it some more. If you have no idea where it is, it might turn up unexpectedly.

If you still can;t find it, tell the librarian right away. If there's one you sort of know or who is friendly, that would be a good person to talk to. Sometimes they will mark the book as "lost" but give you a while to look for it.

I've had good luck with this in more than one library in two different states and usually ended up not having to pay anything. It helps to be in the habit of paying small fines without complaining, and it;s always a good idea to have a friendly relationship with the librarians.

Good luck. Even if you do have to pay for the book, you will still have your library card.

I work in a library. Five cents a day late fees. If you can not find the book you pay the price that it would cost to replace thae book. Yes hardcovers are more expensive, but it sounds like a fiction book. So around 10.00 or 11.00 dollors maybe. You could type the tittle in at Amazon and see how much a new one cost. Somtimes they will take a book of the same price range to replace the one you lost. It just depends on their policy. Hope this helps. I paid for a book and found it soon after. They returned my money.

However much it cost of the book (or at least the cost to rebuy it) usually. Some libraries take into consideration the condition the book was in (the worse the condition, the cheaper for you)

On Amazon.com, the highest cost for this particular book (as new) is $12.17

Usually if you pay for the book itself, you don't have to pay late fees.

At my library, if you lose a book you'll have to pay its price and thats it. Not the fine at all. It also depends on the size of the book. You'll have to talk to the librarian to get an estimate.
