I read it in school but I can't remember the name.

There is an object that will grant any wish. However, if you are in possession of it when you die, you will lose your soul. To get rid of it you must sell it for less than what you bought it for. The main character gets the object more than once, I think. But, in the end, he acquires the object for a penny (or some other very small currency). He begins to get desparate thinking there is no way he can get rid of it. Finally, he finds someone who buys for the least valuable known currency. The buyer takes it with the knowledge that he is condemning himself to hell.

Anybody recognize this?

And I will leave you flowers,
Call you once an hour to see if your alright,
Fall for every lame joke and hope for hushed breaths in basements,
With no concern for who or what may be behind the door,
Ill whisper to you all the things that make u think that no reason nor belief can hope to transcend.

What there would be if the time was stuck on you and me,
Little hand and big both pointing to us telling all the time is now,
Touch the eyelids that leave sleeps sand in your eyes and think that tomorrow would be our
everafter

I want to compile a book of my father-in-laws stories and letters as well as a few photographs. I would like to publish 1 to 5 copies for about $30 each. The photo books don't seem to offer a good layout for lots of text. Is there a photo book that you have used that you think would support text? Or do you know of another way to have this book published?

I'm going to the public library tomorrow, and I usually come up with a list of books, so I can just go & breeze through, and pick the books I know I want.

So, does anyone have good ones?

I love genres like realistic fiction, suspense.

But mostly, stuff like daily high school life, drug addictions, books like Cut.

I'd appreciate the help. :]

How would defend this story against this statement.
"Because it does not tell the truth, imaginative literature must shut down readers' rational faculties, in order that it can appeal to their emotions; the effect of such literature, then, is to weaken the minds of its readers."-Plato

Somewhere Far off from Bloomsbury

He had a bad aim because he isn't a good cowboy
And now you are both laying in the wet starchy spot.

But you don't dare complain like many times before
when you had nobody to warm your desperate bones.

Like the loneliest stray dog on earth you lost your way
in the white as snow linen map of your comfy bed.

Failed to spot its countries, mountains, rivers or seas
but made sure there was clothes on the washing line.

You sipped brandy to take English bitter weather away
Read Joyce to remind you James was out and out Irish.

You wished he'd been a cowboy but he was a writer
from a poor part of London, getting a miserly dole.

You regret John Wayne is long ago dead and gone
but as a martyr you learnt to stick with what you have.

His surname still brings memories of black currants
like he told you his classmates used to joke about.

Asked you to go and fetch him a ten Marlboro lights
and then played you The Walkivira and......

I am 12 years old. Male. Homeschooled.
Ok,
I read 300-400 page books in a week. These are NOT picture books, they don't even have pictures. I HATE books with pictures. I read about 100 pages per one hour and a half. (See I only read an hour and a half per day and some days I miss.) I read at a 11th grade level. I comprehend everything. I can read at a faster pace also but I don't like reading that fast. IS THIS WHAT A NORMAL 12 YEAR OLD READS? AND IS IT NORMAL? IS IT BAD?

I'll tell you How the Sun Rose.

I'll tell you how the sun rose, -- A ribbon at a time. The steeples swam in amethyst, The news like squirrels ran. The hill untied their bonnets, The bobolinks begun. Then I said softly to myself, "That must have been the sun!"

But how he set, I know not. There seemed a purple stile Which little yellow boys and girls Were climbing all the while Till when they reached the other side, A dominie in gray Put gently up the evening bars, -- And led the flock away.

What does the poem symbolize? I have no idea how to interpret it.
