My step-daughter loves the Fear Street books and I just got her started on Christopher Pike. She really likes him so far.
If you're looking for an older read, Stephen King, Clive Barker, Dean Koontz, and John Saul are all good.

If you like those authors-you might find books by Dean Koontz to your liking.
One author I really enjoy is Jim Harrison-a completely different genre but his books are well written and thought provoking. His most well known work is the novellas that became the screenplay for "Legends of the Fall". "The Road Home" and "Dalva" are personal favorites.
