I'm trying to find a book that was one of my favorites when I was little. I can't remember the name of it. It was about a mother that lived with a lot of kids (I think about 9 kids), she had to go away to do something and she told them not to answer the door to strangers. I remember that they did answer the door and it was witch who turned the kids into food. The book had a lot of illustrations in it and it was kind of dark ( had a lot of brown colors in it). Do you know what the name of this book is? Thanks.

I'm looking for a good horror or thriller book. I want something I haven't read before. I've read most of Poe's work along with Stephen King's. I HATE Dean Koontz and Kellerman (so please don't suggest them). Also, Anne Rice doesn't hold my appeal anymore. I want something that will keep me on the edge of my seat and will creep me out. Also, something with an actual storyline/plot is preferred as opposed to gruesome just for the sake of horror. Thanks.
