Sam's Club has new releases for more than 40% off. A recent purchase of mine retailed for $25.99, Sam's Club had it for $14.58.
Another good place would be ebay. Some people purchase the book, read it once, then sell it. The downside is sometimes sellers overcharge for shipping.
Hope this helps!

William B, I think I love you!
If you really must BUY the books, try rummage sales. I frequently buy 20 books for less than $10. I've also bought them on eBay. Find a seller that has several books you want and combine the shipping (media mail, which is the cheapest way to send books). You can also look for lots, where they sell 20 books in one auction.
You can also download books for free from places like Project Gutenberg or Memoware. This is fantastic if you have a PDA - just get a free reader and there are thousands of books available to you. Be aware, though, that they only provide books that are copyright free - they're all at least 70 years old. It's a great way to read the classics.
If you like the download idea, several places sell eBooks for slightly less than the physical copy.

The Library
Face it, few books are worth multiple reading, and then you get to share the experience.
(This from a man who on three occasions in my life have cleared out my collections by donating them to library's, 1970's-980 books, 1980's 1400 plus books, 1990's 1300 books, and I currently have over 2,000 in my home. All of which I've read many times- but I still hit the library 1-2 times a week. But then I read 3-5 books a week easily.)

You can have them all here through the internet. Just install free peer networking open source software like edonkey. Just search the books by their title and bingo you can download them for free.
