Well, you should definitely read "The Stars My Destination" (sometimes published as "Tyger, Tyger") by Alfred Bester. It was written in 1956 but is very William Gibson - I think Gibson has said it was one of his primary inspirations for Neuromancer.
Don't really know another author I'd automatically link to Coupland. Maybe some other trendy contemporary American authors - Don Delillo perhaps?

Gibson as in Neuromancer etc?
If yes read:-
His Dark Materials Triology - Phillip Pullman
Dresden Files (Series of books) - Jim Butcher
Deathstalker Series - Simon R. Green
Shadowrun Novels - Various authors
That should keep you going!

Neil Stephenson. Not the Baroque Chronicles but, maybe, Snowcrash or The Diamond Age.

I like those too as well. So if I judge according to my taste, anything from Neil Gaiman will do but I strongly recommend his "American Gods". Lovely.
