I've been writing a lot lately(poetry and a sci-fi novel) and i want to publish some of my work(exspecially poetry). how would i go about getting my name out there without going towards a vanity press. I would really like to avoid a vanity press if possible...but is there any other way to get my name out there without costing an arm and a leg?

This is a set of books written about then 48 states. They contain lots of information about history, geography, geology, etc. I know I can buy them separately, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that will sell the complete set. It can be re-print set. It does not have to be 1st edition. The set I am working with now is old and worn. Thanks for your help.

The story about the new plague...I can remember the character's names, the story, and even the crappy TV movie they made about it, including most of the actors. The main characters are Fran, Stu Redman, Tom Cullen, and Nadine.
I just can't remember the title, and the new show "Heroes" keeps reminding me of this book, it's driving me nuts.

I first heard this from my grandfather, then years later at school. No one I've asked so far could tell me where this is from or what it is called. But all have said it sounds familiar. Someone told me they thought it was a political satre from the 1800's, but I have been unable to verify it. I have also been told that some of the words are different from what they remember. Here it is:

On a bright, bright day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other
Drew thier swords and shot each other.
The deaf policeman heard the noise
And went and killed those two dead boys.
If you think my tale is false
Ask the blind man who saw it all.

I know it doesn't have an accent on the last vowel, but I've heard it two ways--as in forte. How do most teacher/professors pronounce it?

I read somewhere that there are only (7???) types of story common in all literature/film, etc, but can't remember where I read it, and what they were! I remember it defined each type of story using their most famous example, for example, I remember one of them was the rags-to-riches motif, as seen most famously in Cinderella. Can anyone tell me what the others are, or where I can find this out? If anyone wants to have a good guess, that would be fine too!

ok.. i need the title of the story written by either the brother grimm or andersen.
its bout this king who had 3 or 4 daughters and he asked each one how much they loved him. the first ones answered with things they wanted to hear but the third one said,"I love you like a daughter loves a father."
the king threw her out of the kingdom and erased her name from the family. years later the daughters who stayed in the castle threw theit father out and the only person who he could go to was his youngest daughter whom he'd outcasted.
she took him in and together they regained the castle.
i cant remember the title or the author.. please help me.. i need it for skool tomorrow.. thank you!
