It's about this vampire he has a werewolf friend and he has to beat some other vampire and there are these viking Gods and the vampire sleeps for 300 years and he meets christopher columbus going to the new world to find his werewolf friend but he doesn't find the friend so he returns and is killed by the Spanish Inquisition people

I read this novel a while ago about a guy who was accused of sleeping with and killing a student. I believe he was a counselor or coach or something at a high school, and I think his name was Sam. His best friend was his lawyer, I think. But I can't think of the name of the book or the author and it's driving me nuts. Anyone??

My daughter's best friend (her Nana) begins chemo and radiation treatment next week. My daughter is especially upset about this because we recently lost her grampy to Cancer.
I thought that because she loves books so much (chapter and picture) that some good stories might bring her comfort and strength. Thank you for your response.
