I would appreciate knowing about some recent fictions you have read and enjoyed. Maybe you could give me a brief overview of it along with the title and author. Let me share one with you that I recently read and really enjoyed: It is a paperback I picked up in England last week and thoroughly enjoyed it: "A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian" by Marina Lewycka. It is a thoughprovoking and very funny story about an 84 year old man who wants to marry a 35 year old Ukrainian woman who only wants to marry him so that she can leave the Ukraine. The man's daughters are very upset about their father linking up with the voluptuous gold-digger Valentina who will stop at nothing in her pursuit of Western wealth. The sisters' campaign to oust Valentina unearths family secrets, uncovers fifty years of Europe's darkest history and sends them back to roots they would much rather forget. A tremendously enjoyable read; and winner of the Bollinger Everyman Prize for Comic Fiction.

I was certain it was a Grimm's story, but I keep checking my copy of the complete fairy tales and can't seem to find it.
It began with 3 princes who were supposed to find wives by shooting arrows into the woods, and whatever woman discovered each prince's respective arrow would be his wife. When one of the princes went to see who had found his arrow, a talking female frog had been the discoverer. The prince kind of shrugged this off and took the frog home to be his wife, and she was the best wife of the bunch. I remember something about the king having little contests for the wives, like who could weave the most fabric, and the frog always won. However, none of the family had actually seen the frog, and when they asked to meet her the price became too embarrassed to bring her and so abandoned her for another wife, not knowing that the frog was busy turning herself into a person.
I don't recall the ending, but I think it turned out happily for the prince and the frog.

"I am not good looking, by gar,
Others are handsomer far,
But my face I don't mind it
For I am behind it;
It's the fellow in front that I jar."

Anyone knows what the last line means?

Thanks a lot!!!

What are the best words to describe the drawing of this young man. Best answer gets 10 points. Poetic descriptions encouraged e.g. "A willowy youth, his agitation at society manafested with in the gold lip ring"

The longer your descriptions the better your chances.

Sidenote: If you have nothing good to say, keep it to yourself.

In my English III class, we have to read books and take tests on them. Many of you know them as AR books. The problem is, I can't find anything good. Can you help me. (Please no Harry Potter or Darren Shan books, I've already read every one that I could find in the library.)
