I read this novel a while ago about a guy who was accused of sleeping with and killing a student. I believe he was a counselor or coach or something at a high school, and I think his name was Sam. His best friend was his lawyer, I think. But I can't think of the name of the book or the author and it's driving me nuts. Anyone??

Never mind.... I figured it out. Silent Witness by Richard North Patterson was what I was thinking of. The details were a little more complicated than what I remembered/described.

I don't know, but if you like mystery/legal fiction, try Lisa Scottaline.

That sounds familiar but I don't remember for sure either. For some reason, though, James Patterson comes to mind as the author. Not sure if that's right but I think Patterson has at least written something like that.
