My daughter's best friend (her Nana) begins chemo and radiation treatment next week. My daughter is especially upset about this because we recently lost her grampy to Cancer.
I thought that because she loves books so much (chapter and picture) that some good stories might bring her comfort and strength. Thank you for your response.

I don't know how old your daughter is, but here are a couple choices:

Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Eleanor Coerr (ages 4-8)

Ida B: . . . and Her Plans to Maximize Fun, Avoid Disaster, and (Possibly) Save the World by Katherine Hannigan (ages 9-12)

I don't remember the exact name but there's a book just like you are looking for, the title has something to do about an elephant in the living room. The elephant is a symbol for the illness and nobody ever talks about it even though its right there. Good luck.

Check with the American Cancer Society. They should have a list of books on cancer with them put into age groups.
