I took a Sample SAT previously and I recieved an analysis of myself. I noticed that in the reading section that I answered all of the questions well except for the ones based on 'global understanding'. I'm pretty sure that basically means I don't get the purposes behind the writing.

Sadly, I've come to notice that this weakness affects me significantly in daily life. I don't watch many movies, but when I do, I can't help but think anything more than "Ok...so what?" It's is the same with reading. I understand the story and the language, but if someone ever asked me how I could apply this story to my life or what the moral was, I would be absolutely clueless.

My dilemma is that I don't really know what could improve my abilities. For other things like math or vocabulary, I've been able to get better through practice. But I don't know if just reading more would help me get to the bottom of this problem...

What are some things you do as a reader to make sure you get the message?

I know Ihave three questions but for now, I can only recall two.

Number one is if Harry hadn't followed Quirrell in order to rescue the Philosephers stone, how would Quirrell have got it out of the mirror? So did he actually save the stone?

Number two, is Dumbledore a Parslemouth? Because he is able to understand whats going on in the memory of the Gaunts....
Number three is coming when I can remember it....

Hello,

See the image at this link:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/99/Rome-EgliseGesu-Fresque.jpg

Its the image of Giovanni Battista Gaulli's painting (or fresco) in the Church of the Gesu - painted on the ceiling

If you zoom in to the "light" in the center of the image, you can see a small golden cross and " I H S " below that (copy and paste in paint if its not big enough).

What do those 3 letters mean? Seems kinda strange to have left 3 letters there when nobody can read it without closing up on it. The painting is in the ceiling and the letters are so faint that nobody can see it even if they're looking for it!

I don't have the time to do it myself and would love to give this to my mother as a gift for X-mas. I don't mind paying for it of course, but I do want a reliable company. Any suggestions?? I want to know my family tree as far back as I can.

Do you think the Germanic nobles (England, Prussia, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Russia) or the Celts, Latins, Slavs, Jews, and Muslims are more to blame for the French Revolution and Bonaparte? Would the French Revolution have happened if there was no Muslim conquest of Europe in the 8th Century?

Wall
-------------
I’ve lived here for far to long
The walls creep nearer and nearer
They are so nigh I feel as though I’m sinking into them
Slowly, surely, ‘til I’m sure I must now be a wall myself.
I separate myself, grappling painfully for each inch
The walls are strong, like quicksand
I breathe air, I heave air, trying to escape the prison
But it draws me back in, leaving scratches in the oak flooring

And no.... I'm not a drug addict.
