it would depend on the situation, was there anything i could do right now to correct the wrong? or has the event basically ended? do i need to apologize to anyone or tell them i was wrong?
if there is nothing that you can do to correct the situation, or to prevent it from continuing, then i would just analyze it and see how i could prevent a similar thing from happening again, why did you think it was right, why now do you see it was wrong, did you harm anyone? if so, were you really thinking of them or thinking of the action as a concept of something right?
while applying to any situation, its the exact details of the situation that matter and impact how you now respond, no two situations could possibly be exactly alike

The concepts of right and wrong are cultural and aren't real like the idea of necessity. An organism does what is necessary to survive until that is no longer possible. Society adds a value to actions and deems them acceptable or unacceptable based on popular trend.
If you have acted in a way that is consistent with what was necessary at the time, you have acted naturally and any guilt you are experiencing is a conditioned response.

First one should Pray to God (Also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, Rama, etc.) within their heart and ask for forgiveness. Then ask to be guided on how to rectify the situation. Generally if one has done something wrong to another person (Even thinking it was right) they should go to that person and ask for forgiveness and explain sincerely your intention. The think is we are doing so many mistakes and sins unknowingly. That is why one should take up the process of Self Realization and seek the highest truth. This world is Maya (illusion) and there is danger at every step. That does not mean we should live in fear, it means we have to take shelter of the one who made this place named above so we will be protected. We can be in this world but not of it walking in spirit and in this way we will know what to do and what not to do. Thanks.

I would talk to the offended party openly and as sincerely as I could, apologizing for my mistake. I would explain that I was acting in their best interest and ask them to forgive me. Never wait to see how something "pans out"..it paints you as a coward and someone who can't own up to their mistakes.

1. Say, "I'm sorry."
2. Ask, "How can I correct this mistake?"
3. Then do it!
