I also want to be a therapist..i think it may have something to do with me thriving on being around problemed people. I still like helping ppl but i think my little problem has something to do with it.

I've purchased many books on the craft of fiction writing. Most of them repeat themselves; say the same things in a different context. What would you guys consider the "best" book on ficition writing? Also, what's the difference between 'noir' and 'pulp' fiction? Thanx much!

freeflowing thoughts, fragmented fissures
synapses snap! crackle! pop! it's surreal...
rolling back eyeballs, grand mal seizures
no one can convince me that's not how this feels
taken back phrases, conditioned responses,
silhouettes and shadows of what I felt for you
pushing me into high tide, emotions erratic
flotsam and jetsam and the shipwreck of me and you
raindrops look like stars falling willfully
heaven remembered is hell come to fruition
silence is death, like music remembered
echoing in the mind of a deaf-mute musician
sutured like the mouth of a raggedy ann doll
frivolous futile communal links
mountains of morality cascade in a landslide
and just like Atlantis, the whole world sinks.

There is, " …a danger inherent in all secretive societies for their cellular form devised by the founders for the security of the movement, can as readily be used to 'hoodwink' the leadership, who thus become unwitting 'front men ' for activities they would never countenance." [from Stephen Knight's "Chinaman" report.]

In American history now there is a great debate about 1968 being a watershed year. Some advance if Bobby Kennedy would have been successful in becoming President of the USA that year a whole different turn of events would have transpired. America would have gotten out of Vietnam without as much generational strife, and they would have led the world in not only a national health care programme, but a real moral agenda. There would have been more emphasis about eradicating poverty in the western world, and race relations would have turned for the better. Again, many historians say 1968 was a watershed year, and Bobby Kennedy could have turned the 1960s into a progressive 1970s, instead of the regressive decade it became. The regressive 1980s would never have happened. There would have been no Margaret Thatcher or Ronald Reagan, and instead our societies would have progressed further than what we can comprehend today.

Do you agree?

Masks

My closet is full of many masks
I can choose to wear,
for my true face
I would never share.
Each day I awaken
I look to see which
mask I want to put on me.
Which one do I want to choose,
do I want to make people laugh today?
Do I want to console someone
who has had a loss?
Do I want to act wild and free?
It is so very hard not to show the real me.
People do not want to see
what lies deeply in me.
My pain I keep hidden away
showing the world what they want to see.
My masks are to make
people's lives better,
for that is what I want them to see.
I always put the world before me.
I am no one when I stand alone.
My masks are made so intricately
to fill the voids people
have within them,
to take away sad feelings they have
within their hearts.
For my quest's in life
has always been
to bring happiness
and love to people around me.

(In the musical that never became because I can not write music and never found a writing partner to do so, this came right before the ‘What’s a Girl To Do?’ number. The girls’ version was a retort to this one. I always liked the image of one of the girls coming on stage after this number with a large sign hung around her neck.)

WHAT’S A GUY TO DO?

They’re insulted if we whistle
and they’re insulted if we don’t.
They’re insulted if we make a pass
and they’re insulted more when we won’t.

Tell us now, what’s a guy to do
to understand them?
Tell us now, what’s a guy to do
to live around them?

Maybe they should be wearing signs
that say ‘Don’t Talk To Me’ or ‘Do’
or ‘One-Night Stands’ or ‘A Love True Blue’
or anything that will ease our minds?

Tell us now, what’s a guy to do
to find a girlfriend?
Tell us please, any one of you,
what is not a sin?

(Do you think these two poems seem dated by today's standards? Please offer your input.)
