...because I'm lazy and stupid.

Maybe I'm becoming a grumpy old man (I'm 32) but is it not obvious to thinking people on this board that when someone asks a question like "Name the 3 greatest technological advancements in the last 100 years," it's pretty d@mn obvious you are lazy and want someone to do your homework for you.

Whatever happened to THINKING? That's what got us out of the trees...using tools and our brains.

So my question is this: is this a symptom of humanity's declining intelligence? Or an increase in our laziness?

Some people believe that natural forces are god. Did natural forces create the earth and then entered a second god who wanted to claim the earth as his own? Then did natural forces kicked in again and created man. The second god thought "I am blessed". I have a planet and some potential gardeners. Did the second god have the power to make the earth a paradise by himself. If so, why did he need slaves to do it for him? Some people may need to reads this a second time to sink in.

so we talk a lot about alexander and how he accomplished so much... but, how did these conquests affect his personal life? was it in a positive way (did he learn something) or negative (did it cause the loss of support from friends, resentment)? if there are incidents which you can point out that highlight the bad or good things about his obsession with conquest, that would be super =]

I am referring to a nice work by Dan Brown, Da vinci code, in which he's involved in a litigation regarding some theoretical backdrop info (actually the crux of the novel) that he did not credit to some british nonfiction writers who published their book years ago under, ironically the same publisher, Random house. It seems the better route (monetarily and fame-wise) to present one's ficiton as original, yet ethically.... he should have footnoted or something. Would his fame have been any less had he simply footnoted and gave credit? Did he simply forget?

Isnt there some aspect of our humanity that would have clicked in and said "hey its just not right to have human being slaugther each other for our enjoyment".

I wonder if there were at least some romans who had a more enlightened view point and abstained from the gory festivities for "humanitarian reasons".
