so we talk a lot about alexander and how he accomplished so much... but, how did these conquests affect his personal life? was it in a positive way (did he learn something) or negative (did it cause the loss of support from friends, resentment)? if there are incidents which you can point out that highlight the bad or good things about his obsession with conquest, that would be super =]

This is a good question. Alexander was always at the forefront of his army; thus, he was wounded by just about every weapon used in ancient warfare. An arrow wound to the chest almost certainly caused him a hemopneumothorax in 326-325 BC.
He undoubtedly picked up multiple infections on campaign such as dysentery and malaria. I doubt he was poisoned at the end. Ancient and medieval people often misconstrued infections for poison because they had no idea about bacteria. He was also said to drink alcohol. They only had wine and beer then. I believe he died of infection, probably malaria with complications.
As for his social life, he was likely bisexual. That was common for Greek/Macedonians in that time period.
He did have a political wife. He basically lived for conquest.
One could say he had a full life. Even though he died at 33, he achieved his life's ambition. Average life expectancy in his day was probably close to 33 anyway, though people who survived childbirth probably could expect to live into their 40s or 50s.

His conquests wore him out...literally. He died at a young age of 32 or 33 because he had exhausted himself traveling the known ancient world as well as picking up a collection of diseases along the way.

I can only come up with one thing, and that's a negative. HE died at a young age. IF I remember correctly, he was poisoned.
